"And I wonder, still I wonder, who'll stop the rain?"
Jesus Christ! The rain is ridiculous! We left the hostel a little after noon and got back around 7PM and we are totally soaked. And I'd say we only spent about an hour of that in the rain. My shoes are totally soaked; they're sitting by the heat pipe thingy now so they dry a little before we go out tonight.
So when we left today we went to Starbucks for breakfast. They have all the sandwiches and salads and things here. They were pretty good. BTW, we've found three Starbucks now that receive a rating of 5 out of 5. And I think we've been to nine. So that's one third that are as good as they're supposed to be. Not very good. But those three have been very nice.
We then walked through the park, stopping to visit a the Central Park castle, Castle Belvedere. It was really pretty! Very small, but cute anyway. Then we got to the MET. We spent HOURS there and still didn't see everything. I took gillions of pictures. Esp. in the Egyptian rooms. They had so many sarcophagi and mummies! It was pretty cool. We decided not to go to the Guggenheim or Whitney since the MET took so long. We'll just visit them another time.
Then we were gonna walk through the park, but since it was POURING, we walked on the street looking for somewhere to eat. Jesus. In case you don't know, the East Side, where we were, is home to Fifth Avenue, Madison Avenue and Park Avenue. Not too many cheap little cafes. But lots of horrid expensive stores and more horrid people. I totally saw a fight for a taxi and a fight on a subway today, both between two women! So we finally found a cafe, I think it was called Viant's Coffee, where we had sandwiches and warm drinks. We were then right by FAO Schwartz and the Plaza Hotel (I'm pretty sure I actually saw it, but it was getting dark and we were far away), which were very close, but it was raining so hard that we decided just to get on the subway and go home since it was right next to us. Blah!
So then we stopped in a little corner grocery store by our hostel and I bought a 1 pint, 8 oz. bottle of Smirnoff Triple Black! Ha! I'm gonna drink it now in my room while I'm getting dry. Tonight we're going out again with Johnny, probably to the Alphabet Lounge and Coyote Ugly but definitely to 2 x 4 again. Then tomorrow we have to check out by 11AM! And hopefully there will be a place in the Times Square station to get a locker so we don't have to lug our bags around all day. I think we're gonna go to Ellis Island and the White Horse Tavern then just hang out until our bus leaves. Yay!
Ok, that's all for now. Not sure if I'll get to update tomorrow, but I will be home soon! See you in a bit, Cruel World!
P.S.- I miss my kitties!
