"So let's find a bar so dark we forget who we are."
Okay, so I'm a little drunk, so forgive this post if it's a little wrong. I have two days of stuff to write, too! It's been a busy couple of days, and I've been too tired to write!
Yesterday we got up and went out with the intention of going to some museums. It was raining a little off and on, but never anything horrible. So we went to a place where the map said would have a post office to send out some post cards. We ended up in Rockefeller Center and near to Radio City Music Hall. It was cool to see both of those things, but it took an hour for us to find the right post office b/c people kept directing us in weird places that were wrong! We finally found it and mailed them then proceeded to the museums. Turns out that MoMA is closed on Tuesdays and the former Museum of Television and Radio (which is now called something else), was more expensive than we thought, so we didn't actually do any museums yesterday! Instead we ended up at this place called Isadore's that was amazing. I had an egg salad sandwich on rosemary focaccia bread with lentil soup and Maria had a grilled veggie panini. Yay!
Then we went down to Greenwich Village to do some seeing and shopping. It was fun to look at. There was a knitting store and an incense store (with billions of kinds of incense and oils). Then some guys stopped us on the street to ask where Duquesne is (it was on my hoodie). They, of course, tried to sell us some CDs then. Ha. They were really funny. One wanted to sell us CDs so badly and the other just wanted to hook up. My favorite was that he told us that we could stay with him and to go get the money we paid for our hostel back and we could buy pot with it. LOL. They were really nice, though, and didn't hassle us too much that it was annoying. We also visited a tobacco store where I almost bought a nice hash pipe. The guy gave me a great deal, but I decided to wait until the end of my vacation.
We visited another couple Starbucks. They all sucked. Especially the one closest to our hostel. My god! They were horrible! Mostly rude and generally making our drinks totally wrong. Yuck!
So then we went back to Times Square to put our names in the lottery for Rent tickets. And, surprise surprise, Maria won! Yay! I think that's awesome b/c I've only ever tried to see Rent on Broadway twice and both times I won the lottery and sat front row! I'm glad I got to see it again before it closes in June. And I really liked it again this time. It wasn't as good as the last time, and Maria didn't really like it all that much. But I liked it. I really love the show, though. The singing was great anyhow. And the guy who played Roger looked like Ewan McGregor in Velvet Goldmine. He's from London, and he was awesome. I waited for him after the show to sign my Playbill. I was surprised that not a lot of people waited for autographs. I got his and Benny's. They were both very nice, and it turns out that Johnny knows the Roger guy through a friend of his! :)
So after the show we went back to the West Side and stopped at this pub called the Abbey Pub. It was really funny b/c the woman who owns the bar has a brother who lives in Munhall. Ha. Then we went to this really awesome place called Cheezy Pizza. Ha. It was only supposed to be open until 10PM, but it was 1AM and open! So we went and OMG it was so good! Bars are open until 4AM at least here! Some stay open all night! And a lot of places like McDonald's and Dunkin' Donuts are open 24 hours. And guess what they have here- KenDonutHuts. It's like KenTacoHut, but with Dunkin' Donuts instead of Taco Bell! Woot!
And that was the end of Tuesday. I think I'm gonna save writing about today for tomorrow morning b/c I'm super tired now. But at least I got this one in! Yay! Ok, until tomorrow then!
